Lindsay loves her work! At Toronto Physiotherapy, Lindsay is redefining physiotherapy as an exceptionally high-quality and high-value health care service. She has developed a distinctive clinic philosophy dedicated to providing superior treatment and exceeding client expectations. This philosophy arises from Lindsay's experiences at multiple physiotherapy clinics, both in orthopedic/sports rehabilitation and in neurological outpatient settings, through a multitude of post-graduate training, and through independent research.
Lindsay is dedicated to maintaining the highest standard of care for her clients, and to this end has pursued, and continues to pursue, professional development in several areas. She has received advanced training in manual orthopedic therapy and is fully certified by the Acupuncture Foundation of Canada Institute. Lindsay is also certified in Combined Decongestive Therapy, providing the highly specialized treatment technique of Manual Lymphatic Drainage.
Lindsay is affiliated with the University of Toronto through her roles as a clinical reasoning tutor for students in the Physical Therapy program, and as a peer coach for students identified as needing additional support. In addition, she is an active member of the Clinical Education Advisory Committee.
Lindsay graduated from the University of Toronto with a Masters degree in Physical Therapy. She received the Canadian Physiotherapy Association Award for obtaining the highest academic and clinical standing among her peers, and was the valedictorian of her graduating class. Lindsay is a published author of her research into the long-term impact of partially delisting physiotherapy services in Ontario (Physiotherapy Theory and Practice (2008),24:5,329-343). Prior to entering Physical Therapy, Lindsay obtained a Masters degree in Medical Biophysics, for her work in cancer research which took place at the Ontario Cancer Institute and Princess Margaret Hospital. Lindsay spends her free time staying active with running, weight-training, and volunteering with the Special Olympics.
Karen Whitehorn,

With almost 30 years of orthopaedic physiotherapy experience, Karen brings extensive depth and breadth of knowledge to Toronto Physiotherapy. Her longstanding interest in sports medicine has made her a favourite therapist among competitive athletes, recreational athletes, and non-athletes alike. She has also travelled internationally as a physiotherapist in support of elite Canadian athletes.
Karen has extensive post graduate training and experience in manual therapy which she incorporates into her treatment regimes alongside a range of treatment modalities including acupuncture, exercise programming, ultrasound, electrotherapeutic modalities and more. Karen graduated from the University of Toronto and continues to pursue a variety of educational opportunities to further strengthen her clinical acumen, including training in tangential fields such as ergonomic analysis.
Karen is a long-standing member of the Danforth community, both as a professional physiotherapist and as a local resident. She is a community volunteer and has spent many hours in the Jackman Public School garden where she is one of the founders of the green roof project. She is an avid reader and loves music of all types. You may recognize her from around the community either riding her bike (all year round!) or cross country skiing in the Don Valley on wintery days.
Rachel Kumar,

Rachel is a passionate advocate of an active lifestyle at all ages and stages of life. Healing, educating, and empowering her clients to re-engage in their chosen activities is the most professionally and personally rewarding facet of her practice. Rachel is fortunate to have had experience in a variety of rehabilitative settings including orthopaedic and neurological private practice, orthopaedic and neurological trauma rehab, and acute care hospital medical and surgical units. Through this experience she has developed a comprehensive understanding of the continuum of care in acute and chronic rehabilitation.
Rachel employs a range of therapeutic modalities in her practice including hands-on manual techniques to restore normal joint, soft tissue and neural mobility and function. Further to this, she teaches her clients strategies for maintaining the optimal biomechanics necessary to minimize the reoccurrence of injury. In addition to her formal training, Rachel is certified in acupuncture, trained in therapeutic taping, and is pursuing her diploma in Advanced Orthopaedic and Manipulative Therapy. She is also an avid fitness enthusiast, who has worked as a personal trainer and continues to teach fitness and Pilates classes.
Rachel graduated from the University of Toronto with a Masters in Physical Therapy. She has instructed University of Toronto Physical Therapy students during clinical internships, offered services for local sporting events, and volunteered for the Canadian Physiotherapy Association Orthopaedic Division. During her free time, Rachel enjoys running, taking dance classes, and working out at the gym.
James Braithwaite,

James is an engaging, empathetic and effective Physical Therapist. The core of his treatment philosophy lies in challenging each patient to commit to their health objectives, and to feel excited about the great gains in physical function that are possible for them. He creates an effective therapeutic experience by combining manual therapy including soft tissue release techniques and joint mobilizations, with other therapeutic modalities including acupuncture, exercise therapy, and education, and by ensuring that patients leave every session empowered to expand their physical limits. As a Fitness Coach, James is also a big believer in fitness training and general health promotion, and brings this additional expertise to bear in his treatment sessions.
James holds a Masters Degree in Physical Therapy from Queen’s University, is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist, and continues to pursue advanced training in manual therapy. James has also conducted and presented academic research on the impact of meditation training on adherence to exercise protocols.
James enjoys taking an active role in his community. He has been a clinical instructor for Queen’s University Physical Therapy students, has served on the board of the Lindsay Kids of Steel Triathlon, and recently participated in the RONA Multiple Sclerosis Bike Tour. James is as passionate about skiing as one can be in Toronto, and also enjoys biking, volleyball, painting, and a good Sunday read now and then.
Robyn Quilty,

Robyn is an enthusiastic and highly committed physiotherapist. She has energized a variety of clinical settings including acute orthopedic surgery and neurology, orthopedic private practice, and homecare. She has also worked internationally as a volunteer physiotherapist in the Philippines.
Robyn incorporates manual therapy, acupuncture, individualized exercise programming, and specific education for injury prevention, along with other modalities, to design the optimal combination for successful and speedy rehabilitation.
With a background in kinesiology and wide experience participating in and supporting several sports teams, Robyn has a longstanding interest in sport and sport therapy. She has worked with a wide variety of clients ranging from non-athletes to high-level athletes, and thrives on helping every client maximize their participation in life, work and recreational pursuits.
Robyn is committed to evidenced based physiotherapy and continuing education. She continues to further her own clinical skills in post-graduate courses such as advanced manual therapy and acupuncture. She is also an avid supporter of the University of Toronto Physical Therapy program in her roles as a clinical instructor for students on placement, a clinical reasoning tutor for small group sessions, and as a teaching assistant in clinical labs.
Robyn completed a Masters of Science in Physical Therapy at the University of Toronto. She spends her free time with family and friends, playing soccer, and enjoying an active life in the city.
Lisa Chau,

Lisa has worked in a variety of specialized clinical settings including acute stroke and cardiac care, in-patient neurological and amputee rehabilitation, community care, and private practice. Lisa has special interest and advanced training in the areas of adult neurological rehabilitation and geriatric functional enhancement. The breadth of her experience has instilled in her a strong advocacy for incorporating whole-person wellness and creativity as two fundamental pillars of effective rehabilitation programming. With her considerable experience, skill set, and a tenacious ability to get the job done, Lisa is an exceptional rehabilitation partner for her patients and their caregivers.
Lisa is committed to the continuous refinement of her clinical skills, and has completed advanced training including Bobath and Neuro-Developmental Treatment courses. She resourcefully incorporates these techniques with creative functional task training to help her patients regain strength, function, and independence in their lives.
Lisa completed a Masters of Science in Physical Therapy at the University of Toronto. When not at work, you can find her conditioning herself though kickboxing, practicing yoga, or exploring the city and all its culture by bicycle.

Peter has over 21 years experience as a massage therapist working in private practice as well as multidisciplinary clinics treating and rehabilitating a number of soft-tissue injuries ranging from motor vehicle injuries, pre and post surgeries and repetitive strain injuries. Peter also has considerable experience as a sports massage therapist helping Olympic and elite athletes achieve peak performance while preventing injuries. In conjunction with rehabilitation and sports massage, Peter specializes in relaxation massage for stress management to address the chronic physical ailments caused by stress, including headaches, fatigue, neck and back pain. Early on in his practice, Peter began to notice the correlation between poor posture and physical ailments, especially on those who spent prolonged hours on the computer.
Peter's treatment protocol includes Swedish Massage to manipulate the soft-tissue and rehabilitate the muscles. Treatments may also include exercises and stretches to help facilitate the treatment and provide a continuing care program for the patient.
Peter's commitment to the well-being and speedy rehabilitation of his patients' injuries led him to study acupuncture, which he incorporates during his treatments when necessary.
Peter graduated from Kikkawa College of Shiatsu and Massage Therapy in 1988 and The Ontario School of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture in 1999. He graduated from the Toronto School of the Alexander Technique in 2009. Peter spends his free time practicing Kung Fu, Yoga, weight-training and for nine years volunteered as the Pizza Lunch Fundraiser for his children's elementary school, Jackman Avenue Public School. He is an avid reader, cook, gardener and opera enthusiast.

Elizabeth is an experienced massage therapist with an exceptional skill set ideally suited to the multidisciplinary health clinic setting. As a former Kinesiologist, Elizabeth accumulated substantial expertise in assessing physical capabilities and restrictions, and in educating patients on proper rehabilitative exercise, posture, and body mechanics. With further advanced training including Diplomas in both Sport Injury Therapy and Massage Therapy, combined with her considerable work experience as a Registered Massage Therapist in the multidisciplinary clinic setting, Elizabeth employs a unique and valuable breadth of skills in her clinical practice.
Elizabeth’s target clientele is as diverse her skill set. From Swedish relaxation massage for stress and pain relief, to deep tissue massage, trigger point therapy, and myofascial release, Elizabeth enjoys treating patients from all walks of life. By establishing unique treatment objectives with each client, Elizabeth can create effective therapeutic sessions for the myriad of office workers, pregnant mothers, injured athletes, and other individuals that recline on her table.
Elizabeth has earned diplomas in both Massage Therapy and Sport Injury Therapy at the Canadian Therapeutic College. Prior to this she was awarded a Bachelors of Human Kinetics with a specialty in Movement Science at the University of Windsor. Elizabeth is an avid learner and continues to expand her repertoire including recent certification in Hot Stone Therapy. In her spare time Elizabeth enjoys spending time with her family, bike riding, and is an avid reader and writer.
Lucy Romano,

Lucy is an experienced Massage Therapist with advanced training and specialization in Lymphedema therapy. After earning a diploma in Massage Therapy through the Sutherland-Chan school, Lucy pursued specialized training in Combined Decongestive Therapy in order to treat an underserved population of patients suffering from Lymphedema and venous insufficiency edema. With certification through the Dr. Vodder School, Lucy is able to utilize Combined Decongestive Therapy for her patients: a combination of manual lymph drainage, compression bandaging, skin care, and exercise therapy.
Lucy is dedicated and passionate about Lymphedema therapy. She receives great personal fulfillment from helping her patients manage the symptoms of lymphatic insufficiency through both hands-on work as well as self-management education. In her spare time Lucy enjoys reading, and maintaining an active lifestyle.
Holly Kerr,

"Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food". Holly knows how important food is for your health, but she also knows that healthy eating can be one of the great joys in life. Holly is happiest when she is cooking, eating, and helping people meet their health goals.
Holly's approach to nutrition counseling is a client-centred, "Lifestyle Interventionist" approach. The expert information and advice that she provides is personalized to ensure that it fits her clients' particular needs and lifestyles. In addition to her private practice, Holly has been instrumental in the development of healthy eating programs and polices with the Ontario Ministry of Health Promotion, and continues to support their provincial health promotion initiatives. Prior to entering the field of nutrition, Holly received an Honours degree in Psychology where she studied counseling skills to support behaviour change.
Holly obtained her baccalaureate degree in Nutrition and Food from Ryerson University, and a Masters degree in Health Sciences from the University of Toronto. Holly loves to cook and enjoys the results with her friends and family.

Sandra has considerable administrative experience in a variety of medical settings. In addition to her formal training in Medical Administration, Sandra is an avid independent learner. She has developed significant knowledge of physiotherapy and allied health care practices including medical insurance and billing. She is passionate about helping people and is dedicated to creating an exceptional clinic experience!
